about

The Renaissance music technique of Prolation generates harmony by using the same melody sung at different speeds and registers by the different sections of the choir. The form lends itself very well to musique concrète. By resampling a sound file at differing sample rates, it can be slowed down and lowered; introducing rhythmic and harmonic complexity and exposing hidden sonic detail. This album is an homage to Iannis Xenakis, whose piece Bohor used tape processing to similar effect. It changed the way I listen.
